For the past three years, I attempted to qualify for the US Open during the US Open National Playoffs, and each year, it has been a great ride. This year, as I did last year, I raised money as I battled my way through the ranks. All monies raised were donated to USTA Serves, the national charitable foundation of the USTA. Its mission is to support, monitor and promote programs that enhance the lives of at-risk children and individuals with disabilities through the integration of tennis and education. To date, USTA Serves has awarded more than $14 million in grants and scholarships to thousands of at-risk youth and people with disabilities nationwide.
The Results! The results were the best part. Besides maybe getting to be part of the US Open, my playoff experience supported the good work of USTA Serves. So far this year, I raised $1,700. Thank you to all of the donors for their support. Together we helped to create opportunities for youth to succeed in the classroom, on the court and in life!
